Grammy award-winning drumming superstar, author, and instructional DVD creator Stanton Moore (Galactic) hosts his 6TH Annual “Spirit of New Orleans” Drum Camp, December 7TH – 9TH 2018 at The Cabildo on Jackson Square in partnership with The New Orleans Jazz Museum. Produced by MUSO Entertainment, this exclusive 3-day music camp celebrates the legacy and rich musical tradition that is uniquely New Orleans’.Students will enjoy three, 8-hour days of hands-on drumming, for a total of 24 hours of specialized, small group instruction as well as opportunities for private lessons with New Orleans drumming legend Johnny Vidacovich and “King of Treme,” Shannon Powell. In addition, camp attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Sunday afternoon Masterclass with Ivan Neville and the SONO finale concert Neville, Moore & special guests at New Orleans’ premier jazz club, Snug Harbor and much more!

The exclusive “Spirit of New Orleans” Drum Camp will offer a limited number of students the chance to play with, and learn from superstar drummer Stanton Moore in an ultra-intensive classroom setting. Each student will play on an individual practice drum kit allowing for an incredibly intense, educational experience that guarantees results.

 

 

 

Built in 1795, The Cabildo on Jackson Square is one of the most historically significant buildings in the United States. Initially serving as the seat of government in New Orleans during the Spanish colonial period, in 1803, the building would serve as the site of the signing of the Louisiana Purchase. Today, the museum is home to an impressive collection of more than 1,000 artifacts and original works of art, including Eugene Louis Lami’s huge 1839 painting, “The Battle of New Orleans,” a collection of portraits of famous Louisiana figures, works from nature artist John James Audubon. In addition, Located at 701 Chartre Street, New Orleans LA, The Cabildo hosts many interactive displays, all of which tell the story of Louisiana and its place in American history.

 

 

 

A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Stanton Moore is a highly respected drummer and authority on New Orleans’ musical history who has toured the world as a performer and educator, garnering accolades for his superb drumming skills, clinics and for his wildly popular “Groove Alchemy” book and DVD. In addition, Moore has released a number of educational products celebrating New Orleans drumming styles including the book Take it to the Street, as well as his DVD series “A Modern Approach to New Orleans Drumming” and “A Traditional Approach to New Orleans Drumming,” as well as the comprehensive beginner-to-advance book and DVD project, “A Fresh Approach to the Drum Set.” Moore recently launched the online drumming educational website, The Stanton Moore Drum Academy and has designed his own signature line of cymbals for Crescent by Sabian. Moore regularly performs with Galactic as well as The Stanton Moore Trio and Dragon Smoke (featuring Ivan Neville), guitarist Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Maceo Parker, the Preservation Hall Jazz BandAnders Osborne and many others.

- Where should I stay?


While we do not have a host hotel, there are many hotel and Air B&B options at various price points available in the area:


What gear do I need & what is provided?


You will need to bring your own sticks, throne, practice kit & double pedal. After signing up, you will receive a Student Information & Gear Rental Sheet by email within 48 hours with pricing information. If you have any questions about gear rental/sales, please email us at info@muso-mart.com for details.


- What skill level is required to attend?


Classes and curriculum are developed to accommodate all ranges of playing. All classes are optional and open to everyone. You may attend as many or as few of the sessions and activities as you wish.


- Is there an age requirement?


No.

- Face time: How much will there be?


LOTS! Stanton is with you from 9:00 - 6:00 daily*. You will have plenty of time to ask questions, get private lessons, photographs and autographs and you can ask him to specifically cover topics that YOU are interested in covering at the camp. Plus there will be performances in the evening so you can experience New Orleans' LIVE music scene. *Camp hours may be adjusted to accommodate evening shows.


- What about event cancellation?


MUSO Entertainment/SONO reserve the right to cancel the event at any time at our discretion if deemed necessary due to a lack of participation or any other reason. If the event is canceled, all fees collected by MUSO Entertainment/SONO will be reimbursed in full within 72 hours of event cancellation. SONO Entertainment/TLDBC is not responsible for reimbursing any travel fees, fees for accommodations not provided by MUSO Entertainment/SONO, or other expenses. We recommend in any case that you purchase travel insurance.


-Can I take photos, video or audio recordings?


Yes. Although, special guests may have their own policies regarding filming and and you may be required to sign a waiver stating all recordings, footage and/or photos will be used strictly for personal use and not commercially. Remember, YOU paid to be at the camp. Why would you give it to somebody else for free?


Registration, Payment and Cancellation Terms and Conditions:

Registration for any Muso Entertainment music camp constitutes your acknowledgment of and consent to all of the Registration, Payment and Cancellation terms and conditions listed below:


Registration and Payments:

- All rates are per person

- A 8.25% California State Tax may be applied to your balance if applicable.

- A non-refundable $250.00 portion of your payment is considered a deposit required to reserve your space at the SONO Drum Camp. In the event of student cancellation, tuition less $250.00 will be refunded to you within 72 hours. Deposits are nonrefundable, no exceptions.


- No refunds for any portion of any fees will be issued after the start of the camp. No partial refunds will be refunded for camp activities missed.


- Cancellations received fewer than 14 days prior to the start of any SONO/MUSO Entertainment event will be issued a rain check for a future SONO event of equal or lesser value. No other refunds or credits will be issued.


- All SONO attendees are responsible for any rental gear provided and SONO reserves the right to charge students for any damaged or missing equipment. All gear rental fees or purchases must be paid before the start of the camp.


Once a SONO reservation is placed, the following terms apply:

Due to the nature of our events and strict cancellation policies, MUSO Entertainment/SONO/Big Drum Bonanza strongly suggests purchasing travel insurance.

Special Guests or curriculum schedule is subject to change:


MUSO Entertainment/SONO/Big Drum Bonanza reserves the right to offer qualified substitute faculty and entertainment at our discretion in the event of the inability of a faculty member to attend, or other special circumstances, such as an emergency, illness, etc. If any such changes are made, MUSO Entertainment/SONO/Big Drum Bonanza will make reasonable efforts to notify registrants by updating our website with the most up-to-date information. Attendees are still responsible for the full amount of their registration fee.


Event Cancellation: MUSO Entertainment/SONO/Big Drum Bonanza reserves the right to cancel the event at any time at our discretion if deemed necessary due to a lack of participation or any other reason.
